Patron Dame Elisabeth Murdoch AC DBE
Dame Elisabeth Murdoch is renowned for her compassion and generosity, and is admired by fellow Australians for her tireless philanthropic work.
As Mrs. Murdoch and later Lady Murdoch, Dame Elisabeth became involved with numerous community organizations including the Royal Children's Hospital. She was a member of the Hospital's management committee from 1933, serving as its president from 1954 to 1965.
In 1963 Elisabeth Murdoch was awarded the Order of the British Empire - Dames Commander.
This most awarded woman, Dame Elisabeth is still actively involved at the Murdoch Institute of Research.
We are extremely lucky to have Dame Elisabeth as our Patron. Her smile, love of life and willingness to help the kids of the Royal Children's Hospital is inspirational.
Chairperson Lillian Frank AM MBE
Business Woman and Charity Worker.
Lillian Frank was a high profile Toorak Hairdresser who built up her own business as well as undertaking fundraising for Charity for over 40 years.
Originally from Burma, her family fled upon the Japanese invasion, leaving behind all of their possessions. After spending the rest of the war in a refugee camp in Calcutta, at the war's end she and her family went to London. During the 1950s she came to Melbourne to visit her sister, and stayed. She married restaurateur Richard Frank in 1956 and they have two daughters.
Lillian was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) and also a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). She is also a recipient of the Australian Centenary Medal and a recipient of the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship Medal - an International Rotary Award.
Lillian has worked fundraising for many Charities but has always believed in the Royal Children's Hospital and working for children.
The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation Special Events Committee of which Lillian is the Chairman has raised millions of dollars, which has bought state of the art equipment from the doctor's wish list, including 2 heart and lung machines, equipment for the intensive care, cardiology, cronial facial, theatre and many other departments at the hospital that have needed our help.
The Committee
The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation Special Events Committee are a group of dedicated women and men that give their time to help raise money for the sick children at the hospital.
All of the Committee members are tireless supporters of the Royal Children's Hospital. They volunteer valuable time and effort to ensure that fundraising activities and events are second to none! They want you to have a great time at the next function and vigorously support the fundraising needs of the kids at the Royal Children's Hospital.
